Dan Dnistransky was elected Vice President of USW, Local 6166 on April 9th 2009.
Dan has worked for Vale Inco since 1991.
Around 1997, Dan came to the union hall and inquired about becoming a union steward. Dan was upset about worker treatment and has in the last 10 years become a union activist on many different levels.
Dan started out representing fellow workers at the mine where he worked. In 2003, Dan was fortunate enough to become one of four full time collaboration facilitators. The vast amount of training that followed and the good work done by all people involved was a great thing to have been a part of.
When this was shut down, Dan moved on to Safety and health and back to being a steward. Since then, he's ventured on to become the C.W.S Chair, Alternate T-3 WSR and instructor of Steward Training.
Dan is also the Facilitator of You and Your Union Courses that the union puts out to all new Employees. Dan has been doing this for the last 3 years and finds this to be invaluable.
In 2006, Dan was also honored to be elected as a Trustee on our Executive Committee.
"For all who know me, I feel privileged to be able to work with all of you in continuing to do what is right for all the workers in Local 6166"
