Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Murray Nychyporuk, President of Local 6166. I would like to share some of my background information and history with you.
In 1966, Robin and Bill Nychyporuk were pleased to announce the arrival of yours truly at the Thompson General Hospital. Growing up in Thompson and being part of the community has been very rewarding for me and my family, which consists of my lovely wife Lorie, a son Craig, and a daughter Laurel.
The year I started with INCO was 1987, working in operations at the Smelter, then moving into the Maintenance Dept in 1990 as a Mason. A few years later I joined the Health and Safety and the Steward Committees for a short period of time. Through the mid 90’s I joined the apprenticeship as a Millwright and finished the program in the early part of this decade. Working at Birchtree, I joined the Contracting Out Committee and took part in the ongoing battle of Contracting out. Being involved in that process, I decided to sign up as a Steward again.
Last year I was elected for our Bargaining Committee, and after that experience I decided to run for President of our Local. I would like to thank our members for the support they have shown through the campaign and the continual support they have shown leading up to today.
In Solidarity
