Brian Woytkiw wins 5 th titleBrian Woytkiw, formerly of Birchtree Mine, now with the RCMP won the National King Miner Contest for the fifth time. He also won in 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2009. First runner-up in last weekend's event was former title holder Joe Burton; second runnerup was Dwayne Templeton and third runner up was Randy Radesic. Charles Labonte was the top Rookie; and Brian Woytkiw, Joe Burton, Dwayne Templeton and Randy Radesic won the team event. Bill Loke accepted chair of the King Miner event only weeks before it occurred. "We wouldn't have had such a successful event without the help of a great many people. The members of Local 6166, sponsors, volunteers, judges, advertisers, and of course, contestants all have my appreciation. I look forward to seeing everyone at a new location next year."
