 The Thompson Citizen, a local newspaper in Thompson, has run an article today on its website regarding the negotiations between local 6166 and Vale. The article states Vale has presented a "final offer" to the United Steelworkers and that it is a "take it or leave it offer"!

 We want to let the public and our members know that this is absolutely not the case. 

 The negotiating committee has just entered into the monetary phase of the process and both sides are commited to reaching a deal.

  The Steelworkers have been putting out CAT (communication action team) releases to the membership to update them as much as possible on the status of the negotiating process. We will continue to do so when necessary.
