USW Local 6166 Maintenance/Utilities & Transportation Worker Safety Representative
	Warren Luky
Warren Luky started his first union job with the "Allied Craftsmen Union" in 1986 when he  worked as a brick layer in Winnipeg. The first time he was involved with Safety and Health was when the province of Manitoba changed the Safety and Health Regulations in 1988. Warren was asked to be the safety representative for his co-workers when they worked on big jobs. There was a lot of yelling back in those days when you needed to be heard. Warren also served on the constitution review committee for the Bricklayers Union before he moved to Thompson in 1995.  Warren has  been a Steel Worker for 14 years when he started as a refractory mason in the Inco smelter back in 1995. Warren began as a health and safety committee member about 10 years ago. He has been in the Contracting out committee since it's inception, and a member of the CISM team for 5 years. Warren ran for a guide position on the last USW 6166 executive, and was unsuccessful. He was then voted in by the executive when the previous successor quit and moved away.    Warren believes the Steel Workers have given him an extensive amount of training and opportunity for Safety and Health, as well as provided other courses such as Top Man School, Summer School just to mention a couple. This has helped him in his quest to represent workers in all areas that may concern them.       Warren is also currently an active union steward.
